As every year, the 3rd Sunday in November is devoted to the famous Sale des Vins des Hospices de Beaune. Book your weekend, from 17 to 19 November, and come and take part in this mythical event in Burgundy.
Beyond the animation that takes hold of the entire city of Beaune this weekend, the prestigious auction of the Hospices de Beaune, which this year celebrates its 163rd edition, will take place on Sunday afternoon in the city centre, under the market halls. The public can follow the sale from the Place des Halles on a giant screen. The lucky ones manage to get into the sale.
This year, the Pièce de Charité, also known as “Piece des Présidents”, is a Mazis-Chambertin raised in an exceptional barrel. It is indeed built of the same oak as one of those used for the restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris. The funds raised by the sale of this 228-litre cuvée will go to two associations committed to the aging property: the Foundation for Medical Research (FRM) and the Research Initiative for Healthy Longevity (IRLB).
One of the Godfathers is already known: Thierry Lhermitte, a French actor very committed to the FRM.
Up to this emotional moment, the winegrowers of Burgundy present to the general public all the appellations of the region during the Fête des Grands Vins de Bourgogne, which is held at the Palais de Congrès de Beaune. A great amateur or simple curious, this is the ideal moment to discover all the diversity that the vineyards of Burgundy offer us through 84 appellations.
The event is open to professionals from 9.30 a.m. on Friday, 17 November. The general public is welcome from Friday 2 p.m. to Saturday 6 p.m. (closed at 7 p.m.).
