Côte-d'Or
region wines
From mid-2019, there will be a new appellation régionale: bourgogne côte d’or. The production area of bourgogne côte d’or falls within the côte de nuits and the côte de beaune (collectively: côte d’or).
Village
wines
These are bourgognes produced from grapes sourced from different vineyards in 1 of Burgundy’s 44 villages. The name of the village where the grapes come from is on the bottle.
Premier Cru
wines
Premier Cru” wines come from special vineyard areas within a village. These pieces of vineyard are called “climats” and produce wines that are slightly more intense than regular Village wines!
Grand Cru
wines
Grand cru is the highest classification for Burgundy wines. There are 33 grand cru wines covering about 550 hectares, about 2% of total burgundy wine production.
